EHFCL FINAL 4 preview: Can Vardar defend the title?

Ivan Cupic

It is time for the EHFCL Final 4 in Cologne. Probably no one predicted that the participants will be PSG, Nantes, Montpellier and Vardar.

The first match of Saturday, 26th of May will be played at 15:15 (CET) and the two best French teams are going to face each other. PSG will try to reach their second consecutive final, but Nantes were amazing so far in the competition.

Vardar will not have an easy task against Montpellier. The French were underdogs against Barcelona, but still managed to pull an amazing upset to defeat the Spanish giants. They also dismantled Flensburg by +12 in the 1/4 finals proving that in matches like these, it is almost improssible to predict the winner. But, Vardar have to be the favourites. They are the reigning champions, they won 3 trophies this season and played some outstanding matches. Entire Macedonia will be watching and supporting them, just like last year. But this time, the pressure is on them to deliver a great performance, which could be seen as a chance for Montpellier. Dibirov, Borozan and Cindric have all had amazing campaigns so far, but can they continue their run of form against Porte, Richardson, Gerard and company? We will see at 18:00 (CET) in Lanxess Arena.
