Meshkov one big step closer to Novi Sad after the clash against Metalurg

Мешков ги реши дилемите – ќе игра на Ф4 во Нови Сад

Metalurg - Meshkov Brest 1

Belarus Meshkov Brest has probably answered the most important question of the regular part of the season two rounds before its end and that is who will play on SEHA GSS league's Final Four in Novi Sad. They will probably fight for the title second year in a row. Triumph in Skopje against Metalurg (26:25) will be decisive for placement on the final tournament.

Meshkov was highly motivated to win the match in Skopje and reach their goal. They were a better team through the whole match against the home team which could not count on injured key players Atman and Vugrinec. Match was in the end a real triller with Borozan missing the shot in the last second to equalize the match and get at least a point.

Metalurg's only option to play on the F4 tournament is to win the last duel against Tatran Presov, but also to wait Vardar to lose two matches, against Borac Banja Luka and Zagreb. Unlikely, but still possible.

Lino Cervar, Metalurg's coach:

- I'd like to congratulate Meshkov's players. We now have to turn to other important matches waiting for us in the next two weeks and do our best to speed up recoveries from our key players Vugrinec, Atman and Cindric's new shoulder injury. The next goal is to prepare in the best possible way for the match versus Kolding.

Goce Georgievski, Metalurg's player:

- We should as soon as possible forget the outcome of this match and focus for the remaining challenges. I wish Meshkov best of luck on the Final Four.

Zeljko Babic, Meshkov's coach:

- I don't want to talk about the match much, I'd like to say a few words about Lino. He has helped me so much and opened the doors of modern handball in the 90s of last century. I respect him so much and wish Metalurg everything best in their EHF CL's Last 16 clashes against Kolding.

David Spiler, Meshkov's player:

- This means a lot to us because Metalurg has managed to beat much stronger clubs than us in Skopje like PSG or Barcelona. We are truly happy and I hope that Metalurg will in clashes against Kolding show that this was only a bad day.
