Confident win for PPD Zagreb, Skok shines with 13 saves

Sigurna pobjeda PPD Zagreba, Skok sjajan sa 13 obrana

PPD Zagreb - Metalurg

In SEHA Gazprom League's sixth round PPD Zagreb has in Sutinska vrela sports hall managed to beat Metalurg with 29:20 (13:10).

Zagreb was from the beginning proving to be a better team but in first 30 minutes Veselin Vujovic' players were not able to enlarge the gap and seal the deal early into the encounter. Igor Vujic had his first appearance for PPD Zagreb and in first half Dobrivoje Markovic was leading his team with 3 goals and on the other side strong Nemanja Obradovic scored 4 for Metalurg.
However, early in the second half Matevz Skok had some amazing saves finishing the match with 13 and helping Zagreb enlarge the gap to 5 which Metalurg was unable to close until the very end. Milos Dragas finished the match with 5 goals with some great moves in the second half but even that was not enough to stun Zagreb today. Kontrec and Mandalinic have scored 5 goals each on the other side for a dominant 29:20 victory in the end.

Veselin Vujovic, PPD Zagreb coach:
I can say I'm satisfied, we've played a good game. Metalurg has so far this season managed to deliver some good performances and surely they are a good, quality opponent. In the second half Skok was very good between posts, Jotic was leading the transition and I can say I'm satisfied but of course there is still much to improve on.

Lino Cervar, Metalurg coach:
In the first half we were able to keep close despite of some technical mistakes. However, Zagreb has in second half proved to be a better team at the moment taking well-deserved win. I wish them all the best.

Lovro Jotic, PPD Zagreb player:
We needed a match like this, fighting performance in defense. We needed it mostly because of a tough match waiting for us on Saturday against Meshkov. There is much to improve on in both attack and defense. This is not our best and we'll definitely work on our game.

Davor Palevski, Metalurg player:
We've made too many technical mistakes and missed too many clear shots in the first half. Later Zagreb proved to be a better team taking a clear win.
