Celje PL leave Skopje with a triumph

Целје триумфално заминува од Скопје

Metalurg - Celje

Slovenian champion Celje PL have managed to end series of six games without a victory and catch a triumph in Skopje over Metalurg with 25:23.
Celje PL remain in the race for F4 tournament having two points less than Meshkov Brest. Macedonian vice-champions now have a win, draw and six losses in opening eight matches of the season.
Match was interesting and narrow, leveled at 22:22 with 5 minutes left on the clock but hosts were simply not able to finish the match strong and take big three points against favored rival.

In next round Metalurg will host Izvidjac and Celje will play Slovenian derby against Gorenje.

Lino Cervar, Metalurg coach:
We were not fully focused throughout the match. Schedule was tough lately, strong rhythm with two matches last week and it has surely made an impact on our performance. We've started well but our bad defense has then allowed guests to enlarge the gap. In the second half we've had a chance to take the lead four times but there were simply too many technical mistakes. Celje PL was not much better. We've played without main shooters. We now have to think about next matches.

Vanja Ilic, Metalurg player:
We've played a good game putting in maximum effort. We have problems with injuries and Celje's long bench was crucial for the final outcome.

Jaka Malus, Celje PL player:
In first 15 minutes we have had a bad period and Metalurg have managed to use this. As soon as we've started playing better match turned in our direction. Second half was the same and in the end we were better focused.

Branko Tamse, Celje PL coach:
I congratulate Lino on attempting to produce domestic players. We are maybe the only team that produces players and after they mature they are leaving immediately. Not to better clubs but wealthier. We've started badly and in the end our experience was crucial. All players are tired and it is good that no one got injured today.
