SEHA Gazprom winners Vardar on their way to Qatar and fifth trophy of the season

Vardar

For the first time in history, SEHA - Gazprom League will have its team taking part on IHF Super Globe tournament in Qatar - unofficial club WCh. In upcoming four days (August 25-28th, 2017) best team from every continent will come to Doha to compete for the trophy and wealthy prize.

Three-time SEHA - Gazprom League champions HC Vardar have in June managed to reach a historic success becoming European champions and that way earning the chance to fight for another title in what is already their best season ever. They are reigning SEHA Gazprom League winners, European champions, have double domestic crown and whole lot of motive to go for yet another historic result.

Macedonians will in QF in Qatar meet Iranian Nafte-o-Ghaz Gachsaran (August 25th, 14.00 CET) and in case they get through we will most likely see the rematch of last season's CL Final Four - duel between Vardar and Barcelona.

"We have no information about our quarter-finals opponents. I contacted few coaches and they told me that Naft & Gaz Gachsaran have good players but we do not still know what kind of tactics to use. We have to focus on that first match and see what happens", said coach Raul Gonzales.

The team is aware that they will, as reigning European champions be well studied by every rival as well as that each team will have whole lot of motive to deliver a well performance against them. However, goal in Doha is to go all the way.

"Our goal was to raise the form for Qatar and Super Globe. It will be difficult, but we want to finish the season with another, fifth trophy. We are going to Qatar well-prepared with a mission of finishing what we started a few months ago. We want to prolong our domination although we are aware it will be difficult. Everyone says it's always harder to defend the title but if you work with desire it can go quite well", concluded Timur Dibirov.
