Djordjic scores 9 adds 3 assists as Meshkov beat Tatran

Meshkov Brest

Belarusian champions Meshkov Brest have with a 32:26 (14:15) win over Tatran Presov managed to return to the second place on SEHA - Gazprom League's table getting revenge for opening round loss in Presov. This was their second derby win in a matter of days after the victory against PPD Zagreb less than a week ago.

Meshkov are now second with 21 points, two more than PPD Zagreb. Tatran did not have strength to stun Belarusian champs and will remain fifth with a bit worse odds to reach Final Four tournament having one point less than Celje.

Hosts entered the match fully motivated and focused leading 4:1 early in the first half. However, Slavko Goluza and his boys showed they did not come here with a white flag closing the first half with a 0:3 series led by Urban, Lapajne and Kasal to put them 14:15 up. They were doing good in the beginning of the second half too but lost strength and focus too early to be able to keep the match narrow and competitive all the way until the final whistle allowing hosts to seal the deal at 24:20 a bit more than ten minutes before the end.

Petar Djordjic led Meshkov on what was a good day for him scoring 9 goals, Simon Razgor added 5. Ivan Pesic and Ivan Matskevich combined for 15 saves. Bruno Butorac on the other side once again led Tatran scoring 6 to go along with incredible 12 assists.

Meshkov won't have much time to prepare for yet another derby waiting for them as soon as Wednesday with Celje coming to visit and Tatran will on the same day play Zagreb in Varazdin.
