Meshkov Brest- Metalurg 41:29 (17:15)

(Shkurinskiy 8, Djordjic 7 / Jaganjac 6, Dimitrioski 4, Tokic 4)

Danilo Brestovac, Metalurg coach:

I am pleased we were, up to a certain point, able to keep up with our opponents. Unfortunately, that was not enough today but we tried our best given the fact that we had only 14 players on disposal today. Meshkov definitely have a quality, experienced team full of great players and it obviously decided the match today. We’ve got to keep up the good work.

Milan Lazarevski, Metalurg player:

In the first half we played well and were able to stay close. In the second half however they started playing better and by that we had only 14 players available for today’s match which in the end decided this one in my opinion. Coach tried his best to rotate the team, try to find the best solution for their defense but we simply weren’t able to do better today.

Manolo Cadenas, Meshkov Brest coach:

Last season I followed SEHA League from Argentina and I’m pleased that I’m a part of it now. Of course I wanted us to start the season best we can which is why we prepared thoroughly for this clash. Metalurg were playing quite well in the first half making smart decisions on both sides of the court. However, we were better in the second half and luckily for us decided the game in that period. Metalurg are a good club no matter the fact who is coaching it and which players are currently in their roster which is why I’m satisfied with this result in the end.

Simon Razgor, Meshkov Brest player:

Opponents delivered a solid performance in the first half. I feel like we were somehow nervous in that period making some silly mistakes. This was the first time for me to captain this team which makes me even happier for the fact that we in the end won the match securing three new points.
