Nemanja Obradovic and Branko Kankaras join Meshkov Brest

Nemanja Obradovic

Meshkov Brest will have a very strong squad next season. The Belarusian champions and SEHA bronze medallists from the 2018/19 season, will have two more well-known players in their team, as Nemanja Obradovic has agreed to join from Orlen Wisla Plock and Branko Kankaras is coming from Istres.

Obradovic is now returning to SEHA – Gazprom League, as this will be his third club, after Metaloplastika from Sabac and Metalurg from Skopje. The Serbian back line player made one of his first handball steps in Metaloplastika during the 2011/12, when he recorded 4 goals in 11 appearances in SEHA League. Over the years Obradovic became an excellent player, playing in the EHF Champions League for Metalurg and Wisla Plock, as well as for the Serbian national team at the EHF Euro 2018 and World Championship 2019. One of his best seasons was in 2016/17, when he wore the jersey of Metalurg. The 28-year old scored 66 goals and had 21 assists in 15 SEHA appearances during that campaign, but was also prolific in the Champions League with 52 goals. With Meshkov Brest, Obradovic signed a 2-year deal.

Another big signing for Meshkov Brest will be the Montenegrian Branko Kankaras. The line player was one of the most improved players in the French Lidl Starligue, scoring 82 goals with 75% efficiency for Istres in 2018/19. Kankaras will also make his return to SEHA – Gazprom League, as he previously played in Novi Sad for Vojvodina, making 7 appearances in the regional competition during 2014/15. Just like Obradovic, the Montenegrin also played for Metaloplastika earlier in his career. Kankaras who recently turned 31, will be a replacement for Vid Poteko, who returned to Celje PL.
