Metaloplastika Sabac – returnees on the lookout for new opportunities

Metaloplastika Sabac

In the 9th edition of the SEHA – Gazprom League, we will welcome back the team that has already experienced what it feels like to be a part of the SEHA family. Serbian Metaloplastika Sabac returned to our League after missing seven seasons. They were with us only in the first edition of the League, but they used the time they were away to achieve some great results on the domestic court. Metaloplastika added another outstanding achievement to their seven domestic titles. Last season they were runner-ups in the Serbian championship and that result created the opportunity to join our League.

In their first season back, two-times EHF Champions League winners will start their comeback in the Group B. They will play against Belarusian Meshkov Brest and Croatian champions PPD Zagreb. Metaloplastika won't be the only returnees in that group as Telekom Veszprem also joined the League after missing two seasons. Team from Sabac will seek their chance against two new clubs, Beijing Sport University and Eurofarm Rabotnik.

Not only that, they will compete in the EHF Cup. Metaloplastika will start their journey in the first qualification round where they play against a Turkish team, Besiktas Aygaz. Remembering the amazing result from the 2013/2014 season when they were Challenge Cup finalists, Metaloplastika have a great opportunity for repeating those achievements.

The team from Sabac have welcomed some new faces for the upcoming season. Igor Cagalj, line player who previously played for Proleter, Vojvodina and Gummersbach will strengthen the team as well as the twenty-three year old right winger Aleksa Kljajic and young Borivoje Djukic. Metaloplastika will enter the season with the new coach. Experienced legend Veselin Vukovic, who was a part of the Metaloplastika's golden generation that won the EHF Champions League two times in a row, will lead the team towards new achievements. On that path, one of the key players, last season's MVP in the Serbian championship, Vukasin Vorkapic, will cheer his team from the sidelines. He injured his knee at the end of the season and will be outside of the court for the next six months.

But besides that, all the other young forces will keep the amazing atmosphere running in the team. The returning to the SEHA – Gazprom League will bring new challenges to this squad as well as the new opportunities for improving. Sabac will once again welcome great teams and fans will have the chance to create an amazing atmosphere in Zorka hall.
