SEHA is coming back to Sabac for clash of two legendary teams

PPD Zagreb

SEHA - Gazprom League is coming back to the legendary handball venue, Zorka hall in Sabac, where Metaloplastika played some historical matches during the 80's, but also some great matches in the first SEHA season.

The Serbian vice-champions will try to endanger favorites from Croatia, PPD Zagreb, after a huge surprise which they made by qualifying in the second qualification round of the EHF Cup last weekend in Istanbul against Besiktas Aygaz. The only problem for the home team could be the absence of left back Borivoje Djukic.

Match between Metaloplastika and PPD Zagreb will start on Tuesday, 3rd of September  at 7 PM (CET)  with live coverage on Arena Sport (in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Croatia), Sport TV (in Slovenia), Arena Sport (in Slovakia) and ehfTV.

Veselin Vukovic, Metaloplastika coach:
Sabac has a knowledge of handball, and our fans recognize handball team from Zagreb. There were always some kind of comparison, our generation is a little bit older, but we are both two times EHF Champions League winners. This will be a clash of two sport's rivals. I hope that our fans will come to support Metaloplastika, but also to cheer for the outstanding team from Zagreb. PPD Zagreb are, of course, favorites, they are ambitious and always among top 8 or 16 teams in Europe. We are hoping to reach that level in the future. We will try our best to give them a good resistance.

Nemanja Gojkovic, Metaloplastika player:
They have more quality and experience. However, we will fight and then, we will see if that will be enough for the win.

Branko Tamse, PPD Zagreb coach:
The beginning of the SEHA League always brings special feelings. A tough match is waiting for us in Sabac on Tuesday. Although they have high level of self-confidence after the weekend matches in Istanbul, we will do our best to present the best version of ourselves at this moment. We were working hard, and with a good approach we expect victory, which is our priority. Unfortunately, we are not going in Sabac with the full roster because of some injuries, but these players are in a rehabilitation phase so we are expecting them in the next matches.

Matej Asanin, PPD Zagreb goalkeeper :
I'm truly excited for the beginning of SEHA League, because this will be my first official match in Zagreb's jersey this season. After hard work during preparation period with hours and hours of trainings, especially in Rogla, I believe that we are ready for the start. We are in better shape day by day and if we continue working like this, with a little bit of luck, this hard season could turn out to be great.
