Meshkov welcoming Zagreb, Motor hosting Veszprem

PPD Zagreb

With the international break behind us, it is once again time for European club competitions – EHF Champions League and European League. This game-week will be a bit different that the other ones because EHF Champions League is bringing us two SEHA – Gazprom League derby matches so without further ado, let’s get into it!

In Group A Vardar 1961 will travel to Hungary to meet Pick Szeged. Coach Vujovic and his players will certainly be looking for an away win which would narrow the gap between the two teams in the standings to only a single point.
In the second duel in the same group, we’ll see a SEHA – Gazprom league duel with Meshkov Brest welcoming PPD Zagreb. Six rounds into the competition Belarussians are still without points and they will surely be extra motivated to reach them against Croatian champions who were a little over two months ago better than them in SEHA – Gazprom league Final4 semi-final after the seven-meter shootout. Before the international break Meshkov were looking much better compared to the beginning of the season, which surely makes this match the one you don’t want to miss!

Group B is also bringing us a duel between two SEHA – Gazprom league rivals with reigning champions Telekom Veszprem travelling to Zaporozhye to meet bronze-medallists from Zadar – Motor. In the last round Telekom Veszprem have, after a bit unexpected loss to Dinamo Bucuresti away from home, fallen behind group leaders Kielce and Barca which means Momir Ilic and his guys will surely mean business in Ukraine. In Zadar they were with 36:29 better than Motor and it will be interesting to see whether coach Savukinas and his players managed to find the right recipe for Hungarians in the meantime.

In Group C Nexe will travel to Slovenia as leaders of the group with the obvious aim to prolong their winning streak against Gorenje Velenje. Two rounds into the group stage situation is looking quite different for the two sides – Nexe are on the top of the group with two victories and +9 goal difference and Gorenje are, on the other hand, on the bottom, with -9 goal difference.

Finally, in Group D, Eurofarm Pelister will be looking for the first victory after a loss and a draw. In order to do that they will have to be better than AEK in Athens, which is rare and easy thing to do, but Eurofarm have in the match against Kadetten proven that they have what it takes to compete.
