New three points for Vardar, NEXE's good performance

Вардар победи, но Нексе даде силен отпор

Vardar - Nexe 10 (14/15)

Vardar is back on the winning tracks in SEHA GSS league after beating Croatian vice-champions NEXE 32-21 (15-11). Current SEHA GSS champions will after this win remain on the second place on League’s table with 12 points from 5 matches. Croatian team on the other side remains on the bottom, without a point but with a good performance today.

This was the last test for Vardar before the match against Celje in Slovenia in EHF's CL.

Although the result suggests and easy victory for Macedonian side, anyone who has watched the game can say the situation was not like that at all. Vardar has managed to finally break guest team’s resistance 20 minutes before the end turning into higher ‘gear’, too high for NEXE.

Vardar’s best scorer was Gorbok with 5 goals. Milić was also on the required level with 16 saves. Eter and Herceg have on the other side scored 6 each for guests.

In the next round Vardar will host PPD Zagreb with their new and Vardar’s former coach Veselin Vujović and NEXE will play Radnički in Osijek.

Raul Gonzalez , Vardar’s coach

- I am happy because of new, important points. We were playing good in defense and in attack I've decided to give chance to all players. I have to say that form is, obviously, improving and that we're ready to face Celje.

Strahinja Milić, Vardar’s goalkeeper

- We’ve played a good match, as our coach demanded coach because he was satisfied after game. I think that the result does not show how good NEXE has played today.

Zdenko Kordi, NEXE’s coach

- Vardar’s players were favorites before the match. We've wanted to show that we can play good even against such strong teams although we have had a lot of hard games lately and I believe we’ve showed it today. Unfortunately we’ve lacked concentration in the end and Vardar has managed to control the game easily in that period. We will keep on doing our best to improve from round to round.

Albin Eter, NEXE’s player

- I want to congratulate to the home team. We've tried to play best we can. Vardar is favorite in SEHA GSS League and EHF Champions League. Our goal before the match was not to lose with 10 goals or more, unfortunatelly we didn't do it but we can be satisfied with our performance.
