Vojvodina remains unbeaten in Strumica

Војводина остана непоразена во Струмица

Maks Strumica - Vojvodina

Serbian champions Vojvodina have managed to remain unbeaten in Macedonia reaching a 25:25 draw against League's rookies Maks Strumica.

Hosts were really close to a triumph in their premier match in the League with Pecakovski scoring for 25:24 lesa than 5 seconds before the final whistle. However, Marjanović has in last second managed to score and bring Vojvodina at least a point.

Fact that both of final goals were scored in last 10 seconds proves how interesting and uncertain match was. It did not seem like that from the beginning with Vojvodina reaching +4 for two times in first 30 minutes. But, even despite of that they were not able to stay in lead until the end of first half with hosts making unbelievable 8:1 series to take over control of the match 13:11

Second half was pretty much the same with both teams having their good and bad periods. It might have finished quite different if Pecakovski managed to score at 24:22 for hosts but that is what happens in sport. Goalkeeper Todorovski surely was one of home team's key players with 15 saves. Majić scored 9, Canturija 8. Marjanović finishes the match with 8 goals on the other side, Stanković added 7.

Maks Strumica will on Wednesday host Tatran and Vojvodina will in the next round travel to Skopje to meet Vardar.

Marjan Andonov, Maks Strumica’s coach:

Perhaps this result is the most realistic, although we began with "bad opening", and we had a deficit of four goals. In the last four seconds we made a big stupidity allowing the opponent to score. I hope the next match will be better.

Blagojce Trajkovski, Maks Strumica’s player:

My 15 saves mean nothing after this final goal and my bad reaction. They were favorites but we've showed we can play against better than us. We regret missing three points.

Nikola Marković, Vojvodina’s coach:

We can be happy with this point. Strumica had the victory in their hands, and the last goal we achieved was more the result of an error in their defense.

Strahinja Stanković, Vojvodina’s player:

The most realistic result. We entered the game better but allowed rivals to come back. There is no time for celebration, we're looking forward to the next match against Vardar.
