Steaua finish strong and grab fourth win of the season

STE - IZV

Steaua celebrated their fourth win of SEHA - Gazprom League season defeating Izvidjac Ljubuski 36:32 (16:19) on Wednesday night in Bucharest. Romanians secured three new points with a strong second-half outing which will help them stay in Final 4 race.

Coach Ovidiu Mihaila decided to give players who were involved in national team action last week some more time to rest but without them hosts struggled to ensure a positive result. Krsto Milosevic and Vasilije Kaludjerevic led the way for their teams in the first scoring six goals each. ‘Run&gun’ handball however obviously suited guests better as they managed to score 19 in first 30 heading for the locker room with a three-goal lead.

Romanians however delivered a way better performance in the second half opening it with a 6:0 serious to overtake the lead and take control of the encounter. Guests were after that able to get back into it over Milicevic but then Javier Humet took responsibility scoring three in a row to put Steaua three goals ahead once again which proved to be just too much for Mario Bjelis and his players to catch.

Gabriel Florea finished the match with eight for the winners while Krsto Milosevic scored six. Josip Cutura and Vasilije Kaludjerevic on the other side netted eight each for Izvidjac.
