Draw for Vardar in Brest as a great intro for the second part of the season

Ivan Pesic

Meshkov Brest had hopes of becoming the first team to beat Vardar this season in SEHA - Gazprom League but they can in the end be quite satisfied with this one point they managed to keep in Belarus. In the end 25:25 with Kristopans failing to score in the final attack of the match as Rade Mijatovic made a great and important save for Belarusian champs.

This was however first time for 'Red&Black' not to take three points in a SEHA - Gazprom League match but even despite of that they are confidently cruising towards a new Final 4 appearance as they remain first with 34 points - 8 more than Celje PL. Meshkov remained fourth enlarging the gap between themselves and fifth-placed Gorenje to five.

Guests arrived without several first-team players and hosts obviously had high hopes of taking advantage of that and beating favored Macedonians. Less than five minutes before the final whistle everything seemed to be going in their way as they were two goals up (24:22) even having a chance to make it three. However, technical mistakes they made opened a chance for Vardar to get back into this one even managing to take the lead with less than a minute to go after Luka Cindric scored two in a row to put them 24:25 up. Meshkov however managed to stay calm and focused, delivered a quality attack and as a result of it Razgor leveled the match at 25 which in the end proved to be the final score.

Dibirov scored 8 for Vardar, Shkurinskiy and Vukic 4 each for Meshkov. Pesic had 14 saves.

Vardar will on Saturday play second match of their two-game road trip visiting Presov and Meshkov will in exactly ten days be Dinamo's guest in Pancevo.
