Do Serbian champions have what it takes to stay close to Vardar?

Vojvodina - Vardar

After an important away EHF Champions League win in Veszprem, it is time for reigning SEHA champs Vardar to focus on other rivals. Macedonian title-holders are having an amazing streak of 30 games in a row without a defeat and it is clear coach Parrondo and his players will look to make it 31 on Tuesday (17.15 CET) in Jane Sandanski sports hall hosting Vojvodina.

Guests from Novi Sad have on the other side managed to secure Serbian Super Cup title this weekend defeating Zeleznicar Nis 26:20 and will surely be motivated for the match against one of the best teams in Europe but still aware of the underdog role they’ll clearly have in Skopje.

Vardar won’t be able to count on Stojance Stoilov and Sergei Gorbok in this one, while it is still unclear whether Vuko Borozan and Rogerio Moraes will be able to suit up for this one as the left back plays a vital role for their team in Champions League matches and Brazilian on the other hand, suffered a knee injury in Hungary.

Roberto Parrondo, Vardar coach

Vojvodina are one of the best Serbian teams for I believe five years now. They have a solid roster full of younger players who tend to play aggressive and will clearly be motivated to prove what they’re capable of against us. Our goal is to deliver a good performance tomorrow and win the match of course. It won’t be easy, maybe a bit easier than in Veszprem though, but we still have to enter the match fully focused and play well throughout the full course of the game.

Dainis Kristopans, Vardar player

We’re in a good position in both EHF Champions League and SEHA League and now we must prepare well for what’s waiting for us against Vojvodina. We must go day by day, match by match and keep up the good work.

Boris Rojevic, Vojvodina coach

We’ll play against former European champs and one of the favorites to go all the way in SEHA League this season. We’re dealing with some injuries at the moment but what makes me happy is that matches like this one are a good chance for us to improve. I think it’s possible we’ll manage to surprise a favored opponent sooner rather than later considering the fact we have a young roster full of players eager to prove themselves.

Svetislav Verkic, Vojvodina goalkeeper

We have nothing to lose in Skopje which is exactly why we must not let the pressure bring us down and play best we can, run the court and fight against them. I believe in this team. You’ll see, we’ll only get better.
