Grozdanic: "We started the match off badly but woke up about 20 minutes into the encounter"

Vojvodina

Vojvodina - Metalurg 31:30 (15:17)
(Grozdanic 8, Celica 7; Perovic 12 saves / Spende 7, Tokic 6)

Danilo Brestovac, Metalurg coach:
I believe the match was too rough at some moments, opponents played too aggressive in my opinion. Congrats to Vojvodina on this win today but I repeat, I believe they were too aggressive today as they tried to compensate the fact that they couldn't count on five injured players in this one.

Boris Rojevic, Vojvodina coach:
I do not agree with my colleague, I feel like we weren't even on the court for the first 20 minutes, our defense was non-existent. We did play aggressive on the defensive side of the court for the rest of the game but I don't think it was too much. I also believe that Metalurg could have won the match in the end because it was quite narrow and such matches are often decided by one or two possessions. For me, we showed bigger desire and will to win this one and what makes me happy is that our young backs managed to turn the result over in the second proving what they mean for this team.

Aleksander Spende, Metalurg player:
Vojvodina were quite aggressive on the defensive side of the court today and we weren't able to respond to that. We scored 30 but lost the match in the end. I feel like we need to work on both offensive and defensive side of our game.

Milos Grozdanic, Vojvodina player:
We started the match off badly but woke up about 20 minutes into the encounter. We're not in an ideal situation at the moment as we have five injured players but we gave our best and in my opinion play above our realistic capabilities in the second proving we can deal with Champions League teams as well.
