First ever home match for Beijing Sport University

Beijing Sport University

The newcomers from China, Beijing Sport University will host Serbian champions, Vojvodina in the second round of the SEHA – Gazprom League. On Monday, 23rd of September these two teams will meet for the first time ever. The match is scheduled for 7 PM (CET) and will be played in Dom Sportova 2 hall.

After the defeat at the opening of the season against Vardar, Vlado Sola's squad will be extra motivated to secure their first ever points. On the other side, Serbian champions Vojvodina are loaded with self-esteem as they managed to surprise Nexe in the first round and beat them on the home court.

Boris Rojevic, Vojvodina coach:
We are playing against a team that improves every day. Beijing Sport University beat several teams in friendly matches which means they have a lot of space for progress. On the other hand we are going through a difficult period of playing a lot of matches. We need to raise our form for October the 5th when we will play against Ademar Leon, and at the same time we have to win points in our next SEHA League match.

Svetislav Verkic, Vojvodina goalkeeper:
This will be a very tricky match for us. We don't know the opponent well, which is always hard for preparation. It will also be a psychologically difficult match as many consider that we are the favourites. We need to take our oppomenent seriously. We saw that they beat Izvidjac so they have a good quality. It will be interesting.

Vlado Sola, Beijing Sport University coach:
This will be the first match we will play on the home court. We had 20 days to prepare for this match and to improve. We expect to play a good and tough match. We will try to surprise Vojvodina and take points. Vojvodina are constantlly improving and are a really good team. One of their key players will be Pribak. His experience and quality will help them go forward. They are not fast in returning from the attack to defence, so we will concentrate our play on that.

Ya Cheng, Beijing Sport University player:
We are learning how to be more active in attack and defence. In these two months we listened to our coach Sola and learned how to play with a maximum energy. We hope that we will be more successful in future matches.
