Walczak: “Final goal was just as important as all the other goals we've scored“

Vardar

Vardar 1961 - Nexe 25:26  (13:13)

(Dissinger 5, Cupic 5 / Jaganjac 8)

Stevce Alushovski, Vardar 1961 coach:
We weren’t responsible with the ball making a lot of unnecessary mistakes which is something that is completely unacceptable for us. I’m sure my players weren’t doing those things on purpose but we’ll have to work on being better, more patient with the ball. Dissinger was really good in the first half but the second half was a big problem for us as we’ve managed to score only five goals in opening 20 minutes of it. However, I’d like to use the opportunity to congratulate my guys on booking a F4 ticket and wish us luck in Zadar.

Hrvoje Horvat, Nexe coach:
We’ve had everything under control and lost in the end. Vardar have once again proved they can come back from bad situations, that they are a great team that has a huge heart and in the end a few little things decided the game. I feel like our lack of experience played a part today as well. Of course we’re sad now because we were really close but it’s not the end of the world. We’re definitely not the first team to lose to Vardar here in Skopje. We have to stick with our plans, this is just the beginning of the season. European competition is still ahead of us as well as new SEHA season.

Patrik Walczak, Vardar 1961 player:
Final goal was just as important as all the other goals we've scored in these two encounters. We've reached our main goal which was to qualify for F4. We still have a long way ahead of us however and I believe we can take a good advantage of this match and improve in aspects of the game that weren't functioning today.

Halil Jaganjac, Nexe player:
I feel like we were too scared. We weren't able to additionally enlarge the gap in the first part of the second half which could've possibly sealed the deal in this one. Win was up there for grabbing, everyone could have seen that today. Unfortunately, later we committed a few turnovers, made some beginners mistakes allowing them to get back into this one. I’m really speechless at the moment, I don’t know what happened in final five minutes. That has already happened 3 or 4 times and I really don’t know what to say. This is completely our fault.
