Martin Stranovsky

After an important victory against Vojvodina in the previous round, another home appearance is in front of Tatran Presov. Slovakian gem will host the reigning European and SEHA champions, Vardar on Tuesday, 1st of October. The match is scheduled for 8:45 PM (CET).

With two victories and one loss behind each of these teams, Tatran Presov and Vardar currently have the same number of points. Red and Black are holding the second place on the table in Group A, while Tatran are placed on the fourth position. The last time these two clubs met, team from Skopje secured tight win on the home court. This will be kind of a re-match, where Tatran will have the chance to win the points in front of their fans in Tatran Handball Arena Presov.

As both teams secured points in their last matches on the home court, there is no doubt that they will be extra motivated to continue their winning streak.

Slavko Goluza, Tatran Presov coach:
What we must do in the match against a team like Vardar is to give our best. Our schedule has been packed and we picked up injuries and illnesses on the way. So we don’t have illusions to go for a win here. Vardar will also travel after a tough match in Zaporozhye so there might be a break for us there. Despite all our problems and some bad results from the last matches, we are not giving up and we will try and put up a good fight against them.

Igor Chupryna, Tatran Presov goalkeeper:
Vardar represents the very best that handball can offer. Despite departure of some players after the last season, Vardar added quality faces with experience from Germany or France to their roster. We are aware of their playing style and we will also have a look at their match against Motor Zaporozhye. As we play at home, it is important match for us and we must prepare well.

David Pisonero, Vardar coach:
We are preparing for each match, although again we did not have much time for analysis after our visit in Zaporozhye in the EHF Champions League. We want to win every time and so will be on Tuesday against Tatran Presov in the SEHA League. Tatran Presov are our well-known rivals. We know players are tired of long trips and busy schedules, but it is our responsibility to fight for the three points, no matter who and how much they will get a chance to play.

Sergei Gorbok, Vardar player:
Whenever we are in Presov it is difficult, especially now after the Champions League match against Motor Zaporozhye. Although we will be a little tired, for us it is part of our image that we should always win. As the match against Nexe has shown, sometimes things do not go our way, but we should always try to show why are we the champions.
